Refošk Boškarin 2022: power, depth and Istrian character
Refošk Boškarin 2022 originates from sunny slopes near the Butul Homestead. Hand-picked grapes have developed great colour, extract, and character in this ripe vintage. Fermentation was spontaneous at natural temperatures, with nearly a month of maceration.
In the cellar
The wine matured in barrique barrels on fine lees until summer 2023, with no added sulphur. The flysch soil, with marl and sandstone, gives it minerality, tension, and a recognisable Istrian signature.
In a glass
A ruby red colour with violet hues is accompanied by aromas of blueberries, cherries, prunes and blackberries, along with white pepper, chocolate and gentle vanilla. The taste is rich, structured and spicy, with noble tannins and a long finish.
At the restaurant
It pairs excellently with grilled meats, beef stews, game, darker sauces, mature cheeses and other dishes with a pronounced flavour.
Serving
Serve at 14–16 °C. Before serving, we recommend brief aeration to fully open up the dark fruit, spices, and structure of the wine.
