Butul Farm in the prestigious Slow Wine Guide – Ribca 2019 among the best wines

With great pride, we share a significant milestone for our wines: Butul Farm has been featured in the prestigious Slow Wine guide – with three wines.

This recognition holds particular significance for us, as it comes from an environment that shares our values: sustainability, respect for nature, local identity, and wine as a cultural product.

What is the Slow Wine Guide?

The Slow Wine Guide is produced under the auspices of the Slow Food movement and is considered one of the most esteemed wine guides in Italy. Its unique characteristic is that it doesn't rate wines with points, but holistically – through the story of the winery, vineyards, people, and landscape.

The core principle of Slow Wine: Wine must be good, clean and fair.

Commissions are assessing:

  • Method of cultivation and vinification
  • respect for the terroir
  • The sustainability of viticulture
  • Relationship to the environment and community
  • authenticity of a wine-growing region

Slow Wine is therefore a guide about wine, regions and philosophy, not even for a glass of wine.

Slow Wine covers the borders of Italy

The guide today also includes cross-border wine regions:

  • Slovenian Istria
  • Kras
  • Vipava Valley
  • Goriška Brda

For Italian wine lovers, sommeliers and members of the Slow Food movement, Slow Wine is often a guide in their decisions:

  • Where to go on a wine trip
  • Which cellars to visit
  • What wines to look for in wine shops

The ranking therefore also means major promotional and tourist opportunity.

Ribca 2019 – Top Wine Award

We feel a special pride in the fact that our wine Ribca 2019 (Muscat & Malvasia) received a prestigious title Top Wine.

  • The guide describes approximately 40,000 wine
  • Top Wine received "le" 188 vin

Ribca 2019 ranks among the best wines in the entire selection.

This is confirmation that even a small farm from Slovenian Istria, with dedicated work, patience, and respect for nature, can stand alongside the best.

Why is this recognition so important to us?

Slow Wine doesn't reward size or trends. It rewards:

  • Time
  • Patience
  • land registry
  • Authenticity

These are the values that we live every day at Domačija Butul – in the vineyard, in the cellar, and when working with guests.

Your listing in the guide is for us:

  • acknowledgement of the path taken
  • Stimulus for the future
  • the opportunity to share our story more widely

Welcome to the tasting

Sincere thanks to all who believe in our philosophy and our wines, which are made slowly – with time, respect, and heart.

Tastings and farm dinners are by prior reservation only. Please send us an enquiry and we will be happy to host you.

Cheers 🍷🌿
