Nestled in the scenic Slovenian Istrian village of Manžan, our Malvazija vineyard sits pretty at 90 meters above sea level, offering views of the Gulf of Koper, the Adriatic Sea, and the majestic Julian Alps.

Here’s the scoop on ‘Pozabljeni Sod’ (aka the ‘forgotten barrel’): On a royal ripeness day, September 22nd ’16, Tatjana & Mitja Butul kicked off the harvest, but life happened, distractions ensued, and the intended two-week maceration stretched its legs until Christmas came knocking. Yes, we forgot about the barrel – oops! But, hey, it gave us those specific oxidative nutty notes, thanks to the FLOR yeast party on top of the barrel, akin to mature cherry wines or a cheeky Marsala. Jura, you say? Close enough!

Now, this Malvazija has earned its room temperature throne – don’t even think about chilling it. It’s got the royal trio of almonds, mature pears, and dried apples in its flavor arsenal. So, here’s to forgetting barrels, extended macerations, and a wine that’s as fascinating as its accidental backstory. Cheers to Pozabljeni Sod!
