Sunday at Domačija Butul marked the conclusion of three days of creativity, inspiration, and unforgettable experiences. What began on Friday with blank canvases and curious glances towards the Istrian landscape, concluded today with an exhibition of works, new friendships, and a feeling of having been part of something truly special.
Over these three days, it wasn't just paintings that were created. Stories, conversations, genuine friendships, and memories were forged, which will stay with us for a long time. The creative energy flowed not only onto the canvases but also into the kitchen, where Črt Butul every day he proved anew that cuisine too is an art. His imaginative dishes, together with selected natural wines Butul Homestead delighted the taste buds and provided the perfect accompaniment to the artistic creations. Thus, alongside the works of art on the canvases, true culinary masterpieces were also being created on the plates.

Inspiration was all around us. Vineyards, olive groves, stone walls, and the distinctive Istrian landscape found their place in many paintings, and through various artistic approaches, told the story of Manzano and the Butul Homestead.

The technique of drawing with Refošk wine, in particular, generated considerable interest and enthusiasm. Instead of classic colours, the Istrian wine left its mark on paper, resulting in surprisingly expressive and unique works. This time, our Viž patiently posed as the model, becoming part of another beautiful story with his presence. The artists, with a great sense of feeling, created exceptional portraits that impressed them as well as all of us.

The pleasant atmosphere was further enriched by American students, whom we recently hosted at Manžan. They followed the creative process with interest, learned about our cultural heritage, and experienced a slice of authentic Istrian way of life. Such encounters prove that art knows no boundaries and that creativity itself can become a common language for people from different parts of the world.
The conclusion of the three-day meeting was marked by an exhibition of the works created. Each painting carries its own story, its own perspective, and its own moment, and together they bear witness to an unforgettable creative weekend. The exhibition is now also moving online, where many others will be able to admire the works.

Following such a positive response, it's clear this is not an ending, but a new beginning. There is great interest in similar creative experiences in the Manžan and Koper countryside, so Simon Sanda is collecting applications for a new date.
Because a drawing school is not just about learning artistic techniques. It is a space of meeting, creativity, excellent cuisine, nature, friendship, and experiences that remain with a person long after the colours on the canvas have dried.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this story. Manžan has once again proven this weekend that art is most beautiful when we create it together.
