I had a wonderful two-week stay with my camper van at the Butul family’s Farmstay. They were very kind, welcoming, and flexible with my schedule, which made everything feel easy and relaxed. The place itself is magical, with a memorable view over the sea and the mountains. The atmosphere was lovely overall, and I got to enjoy some truly delicious homemade food and wines.

Nous sommes restés une nuit en van entourés de vignes avec vue super sur les paysages environnants. L’accueil était très chaleureux et nous sommes repartis avec plein de vins et produits fait maison par la famille. Nous recommandons très très fortement !

Guter Stellplatz am Weinberg. Auf dem Hof kann man leckeren Wein und Gemüse erwerben. Hilfsbereite Gastgeberin. Einziger Wermutstropfen ist die angrenzende Straße, dessen gelegentlichen Verkehr nicht zu überhören ist. Das war für uns unschön, da wir in einem Aufstelldachzelt schliefen. In einem Kastenwagen kann es anders sein. Sanitäranlagen bestehen aus einer Dusche und einem WC. Beides war tadellos.
Mein Fazit: Tolle Gastgeberin, lecker Vino, guter Ausgangspunkt die nahe Stadt Koper zu erkunden.

Wir waren für eine Nacht mit unserem Camper dort.Sehr netter Empfang,tolle Aussicht aufs Meer und die Stadt.Der Hofladen hat tolle Produkte und der Wein schmeckt sehr gut. Lediglich der für mich sehr laute Straßenlärm hat unseren Abend gestört und die Nacht um 6 Uhr beendet.Das ist aber nur meine persönliche Einschätzung.Andere würde es vielleicht nicht stören.

Nous sommes restées 5 nuits avec notre van sous les oliviers de la famille Butul. Un accueil chaleureux de la part de Tatjana et sa famille. Le lieu est magnifique avec une vue imprenable sur la vallée/côte. De la bas nous avons pu tout faire en vélo (en laissant pour ma part mon vélo en bas de la grosse côte qui mène à la ferme). Les sanitaires sont simples mais propres et fonctionnels. Petits plus : une balançoire qui a bien plu à notre fille + les délicieux et originaux produits confectionnés à la ferme ! Merci encore pour l'accueil !

First time I came here to Manžan (already some years ago) was a quick stop-over on the way to Croatian coast, with a friend, to say hi and have a breakfast and coffee. We stayed 3 nights instead. And I love coming back ever since. And every time I am here, I don’t want to leave this place. 🙈🙏

Farmstay Butul is such a lovely place, tucked away on top of a Manžan hill that has a beautiful view over Adriatic Sea and Slovenian Alps. This is a lush little Istrian oasis: lemon trees, pomegranates, olive orchard, vineyard, lavender shrubs, herbal patches; this place is entirely run by an amazing power-family of 3 people: Tatjana, Mitja and Črt. (And their beautiful friendly dog Vižo) Their welcome & hospitality gets immediately under your skin with warmth, authenticity and some playful mischief. 😉 You will know what I mean, once Mitja pours you (with a wink) a glass of one of their delicious natural wines and tells a story about their wine production. Or when Tatjana whips out her latest delicious herbal/fermented experiments, such as fermented green walnut husks.

Their food is a next-level experience, worth not missing out. They have a  field-to-plate approach, growing their own fresh, seasonal veggies, herbs, fruits, and creatively transforming (usually by Črt) their raw ingredients into delicious, creative, fine dining plates, and also into a whole range of home-made pickles, ferments, marmalades, wine jellies (by Tatjana) They make their own olive oil too, which is absolutely amazing.
They also produce their own honey. You should absolutely try out their, well, everything, really. Sun-dried tomato’s pickled in their own olive oil is like a umami candy. Wine jelly with lavender from their garden, bring it on! Fig marmalade, fermented skuta, cheese aged with black tea leaf or herbs, yes, please! 😜🫠

My last visit was recent now in August 2025 from Berlin. I arrived late evening and the first thing I noticed, is how well I slept here: I drifted into sleep listening to cicadas, rain drops, wind, nature. There is absolutely no traffic noise here. Just a total nervous system reset. With great home-made food, wine, and an amazing Butul experience.

We had an amazing stay at the farm. Tatjana, Mitja and Črt were very welcoming and generous hosts. We did a wine tasting one evening which did not disappointed. We tried over 12 wines and had excellent food prepared with local and fresh ingredients. Definitely a highlight of our 3-week trip to Italy and Slovenia. I highly recommend.
